Ange Postecoglou's adaptability will be a key factor in how much Tottenham Hotspur can improve over last season, according to William Gallas.
Spurs finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season after the club soared to a hot start under Postecoglou. The North London side occupied the top spot in the standings as late as Matchday 10 last season, but Gallas contends that opposing teams quickly learned how to counteract Postecoglou's tactics, which led to the club's eventual drop-off.
Now, with a full season of information at their disposal, Gallas believes opposing managers will find it easier to plan for Spurs' tactics, meaning Postecoglou will need to adjust in order to led his club higher up the table.
"The objective at the club will be to improve on last season’s fifth place finish. It’s as simple as that," Gallas told Genting Casino.
"I’m not sure if they will be able to do that because I still have some concerns about how Ange Postecoglou sets his team up to play. Last season they surprised and startled some teams with the way they played with such a high line, I’m not sure if that will be as effective this season as managers know what to expect from Tottenham."
