Former Arsenal captain William Gallas wants more from Martin Odegaard.
The midfield captain has finally found a home after a peripatetic early career following a move to Real Madrid as an exciting teenager.
Arteta appointed him captain and he was one of the key figures in their title attempt last season, and their continued good form in the current campaign.
However Gallas, who also had spells at Chelsea and Tottenham, believes that the Dane can do more for the club in terms of his numbers.
He told Lord Ping: “I really like Martin Odegaard but I want him to do more and think he can do more, not only because he is the captain, but because he has the quality. He has to do more.
“I want to see him making the difference in every single game if he wants to go to another level.
“When I compared him to Dennis Bergkamp, Bergkamp was a player that could do something special in almost every game, whether that was a goal or an assist. If Odegaard wants to reach Bergkamp’s level, he has to do more.
“If you want to win the Premier League, you need a player like Odegaard on fire.”
