William Gallas explains why Dominic Solanke is a better signing for Arsenal than Victor Osimhen

William Gallas explains why Dominic Solanke is a better signing for Arsenal than Victor OsimhenDAZN
The Londoners are expected to sign a striker this January.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Williams Gallas believes that Dominic Solanke is the striker that Mikel Arteta should be looking at.

Arsenal have been linked with moves for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, and most prominently, Ivan Toney at Brentford.

Osimhen has been unsettled at times this season in Italy, while Toney is soon to return from a betting ban that has kept him out of action for the season so far, and is also reportedly wanted by Chelsea, amongst others.

Solanke is currently at Bournemouth after spells at Chelsea and Liverpool, and he has nine goals from 19 appearances so far this season.

Speaking to Lord Ping, Gallas identified the 26-year-old as the player to bring in.

He said: “I think Arsenal needs one striker who is different than Gabriel Jesus. One striker who is physically better can help the team play a different style of football.

“Osimhen, Toney or Solanke? It’s a good question! It’s not just about the quality of the players but it’s if the player can have a good relationship with the manager. If you have a strong character and a strong personality, that might not suit what the manager wants.

“I’m not sure about Victor Osimhen. He has a strong character but I’m not sure if he’ll have a good relationship with Arteta. If I was Arteta, I would sign for Dominic Solanke, who is also a cheaper option than Osimhen and Toney.”
