New Zealand look to make it out of the group stage of a Women's World Cup for the first time as they act as co-hosts for the 2023 tournament.

The Football Ferns have yet to earn a victory on the biggest stage of the women's game, and they are coming off a 2019 tournament in which they failed to pick up a point. Expectations are obviously higher now with this year's edition being played partially on home soil, and so New Zealand are hoping to advance from a Group A that also includes Norway, Switzerland and WWC debutantes the Philippines.

The two European sides are ranked highest in the group and are favoured to go through to the knockouts, but only Norway have a history of success at the WWC as they've advanced out of the group stage in seven of the eight competitions, including a World Cup title in 1995.

That leaves the rest of the group wide open, with New Zealand and Switzerland likely to battle for the second berth in the knockouts.
