England have made the semi-finals of the last two FIFA Women's World Cups, but have failed to advance to the final in either tournament.

The Lionesses have come agonizingly close to playing for the biggest trophy in the sport, and in Australia/New Zealand they'll look to finally get over the hurdle and put themselves into the championship-deciding match.

England are ranked fourth in the world and boast a squad long on experience and pedigree. They come into this tournament the odds-on favourite to win Group D, from which point they'll embark on a knockout journey that they hope will bear more fruit than before.

Standing in their way are Denmark and China, who are Nos. 13 and 14 in the world, respectively. Neither side are considered world-beaters at this point in time, although both have enough talent to make England work for their victories.

Rounding out the group are Haiti, who are entering their first WWC and will look at this tournament as an opportunity to test themselves against better, more established sides.
