It was the show that helped launch All Elite Wrestling and its impact on the professional wrestling business has been huge.
Cody Rhodes made a bet with Dave Meltzer that an independent show could sell 10,000 tickets and it was the current WWE star who was proved right as the original All In was a huge success.
The positivity surrounding the show allowed Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Tony Khan to launch AEW the following year and the company continues to go from strength to strength.
This Sunday, AEW presents All In at Wembley Stadium and the show couldn’t look more different from the original.
Here, DAZN looks at the wretslers whove stuck around five years on from one of wrestling’s most important events.
MJF
Now the AEW world champion, MJF was defeated in the All In opener by Matt Cross. The result didn’t hurt the Long Island star who is now one of the biggest names in the wrestling business who will main event this year’s All In against Adam Cole.
Christopher Daniels
Very much a backstage talent now due to his office role as Head of Relations, Christopher Daniels still wrestles occasionally.
Daniels defeated actor, Stephen Amell, at All In 2018.
Dr Britt Baker and Madison Rayne
Both women competed in a four-way match that also featured Tessa Blanchard and Chelsea Green. Rayne is now in charge of developing the women of AEW while Baker has a position near the top of the women’s division and is also a former AEW Women’s champion.
Hangman Adam Page
Defeated Joey Janela in a Chciago street fight and has been a central part of AEW ever since. Has enjoyed numerous high-profile rivalries against the likes of CM Punk and Kenny Omega, and he’s also held the company’s biggest prize.
Jay Lethal
Enjoyed a solid win over Flip Gordon at All In and is now part of comedy heel faction that also features Jeff Jarrett and Sonjay Dutt. Still waiting for his first title in AEW but after tasting glory in other promotions, Lethal’s veteran role could mean he’s the man to elevate younger talent.
Kenny Omega
One of the world’s biggest talents, Kenny Omega is perhaps the first name people think of when AEW comes to mind. After beating Penta at All In, Omega was one of AEW’s key people at the beginning and that position hasn’t slipped. A former world champion with the company, Omega has accomplished plenty in Tony Khan’s company and there’s still more to come.
Penta
Despite losing to Omega at All In, Penta, alongside Rey Fenix, has enjoyed a wide range of success in AEW. Always entertaining as The Lucha Bros, the pair’s high point came in 2021 when they defeated The Young Bucks to become AEW tag team champions following an unforgettable cage encounter.
The Young Bucks
Teaming with Kota Ibushi at All In, The Golden Elite were too good for Rey Mysterio, Bandido and Rey Fenix. Five years later, The Bucks take on FTR at Wembley as they look to enhance their AEW credentials following a memorable spell where they’ve been at the centre of many outstanding developments.
Rey Fenix
A loser at the original All In but Fenix has tasted plenty of success in AEW partnered with Penta. A former AEW tag team champion, Fenix has also enjoyed trios success as well as challenging for the company’s biggest prize.
Bandido
Still finding his identity in AEW but in the ring, Bandido has been a joy to watch. Despite waiting for bigger opportunities in the company, Bandido has proven what an asset he can be in enjoyable matches against Chris Jericho and Rush.
Notable absentees who won’t be at AEW All In 2023
Cody Rhodes
A pioneer for AEW, Cody Rhodes’ contribution to the company should never be understated. Now back in WWE, it’s unclear why Rhodes left the company he helped start but his run under Vince McMahon since 2022 has been a success and it’s likely a world title run is coming up soon for Rhodes.
Rey Mysterio
The legendary highflyer caused a shock when appearing at All In but with his heart always belonging to WWE, it was no surprise that Mysterio went back there. With his son, Dominick, now one of the rising stars there, Mysterio’s input in helping his son get over has been vital and that will be important to the former world champion.
