AEW Collision: What is it? When will it start? Here's what we know so farDAZN

All Elite Wrestling boss Tony Khan has promised a huge announcement for the May 17 Dynamite and many in the wrestling industry expect AEW to launch a new Saturday show titled Collision.

Speculation is moving at a crazy pace suggesting that the latest instalment of AEW’s TV profile is set to host the return of CM Punk, and although that’s not confirmed at this stage, it appears likely that the Chicago native will once again show up in AEW.

What do we know about this reported new show so far?

Here's the rundown.

Will there be a new AEW TV show?

It hasn't been confirmed yet. But, in addition to a big announcement confirmed by Khan for Wednesday May 17 that contained plenty of hints that it could be related to a new show, AEW have concluded their long-running B-Shows Dark and Dark: Elevation.

With a likely new TV deal in the United States forthcoming, it appears some serious realignment is taking place in anticipation of a new addition.

When would it start?

Multiple reputable wrestling reporters are publishing that a TV taping will occur on June 17 in Chicago, which could be the launch of the new weekly offering.

Who will wrestle on the first AEW Collision?

Well, since the first taping is set for Chicago, there's only one place to start...

CM Punk

The two-time AEW champion has not been seen in the company since his spectacular fallout with The Elite following the All Out PPV last September. As well as partaking in an altercation with his fellow employees, Punk also suffered an injury in his match with Jon Moxley and was likely to be out anyway. Time is a supposed healer and if Punk and The Elite can patch up their differences, the wrestling world could see the beginning of an intense feud at Collision.

Bill Goldberg

Perhaps the biggest free agent in wrestling today, Bill Goldberg, the former WCW and WWE champion is available if AEW can tempt him back into the ring. A genuine draw, Goldberg will draw plenty of eyes on Khan’s product and there’re a number of fascinating feuds that the relentless star can sink his teeth into.

Miro

Making a surprise return on the May 10 Dynamite, could Miro’s private conversation with Khan lead him to a regular Saturday night slot? The Bulgarian star has had a mixed time in AEW so far but with more opportunities to show off his undeniable star quality, could this be the chance that Miro grabs and finally fulfil his potential.

Thunder Rosa

Moments after Miro re-appeared on AEW TV this past Wednesday, so did the former AEW Women's champion in a very similar manner. Rosa has been out for months with a back injury, and there are plenty of options for opponents and feuds with the division growing considerably since.

Andrade El Idolo

Once seen as a huge signing for AEW, it’s fair to say that Andrade El Idolo has not scaled the heights that he frequented as a performer in NXT. A sound in-ring performer with a superb look, the husband of Charlotte Flair has plenty of time on his side to rediscover his brilliant form and Collison could be the platform for Andrade to deliver.

The stars of NJPW

With whispers suggesting Collison will debut on June 17, that means that the show will go down one week before Forbidden Door 2 meaning that New Japan performers might want to make themselves known. Will Collision welcome the likes of Will Ospreay and Okada just a few days before NJPW and AEW go at it once more?
