Shawn Michaels, WWE's Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, has been lauded by many critics and fans alike for his work leading NXT.
Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Booker T actually has pinpointed an NXT force for reminding him of "The Heartbreak Kid" in his prime — and that's none other than NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez.
"I feel like Roxanne Perez is a special, special, extraordinary talent somewhat like a Shawn Michaels who was not the biggest guy in the room but he worked just as big as every guy in the room," Booker T told Dave LaGreca, Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer on the Busted Open Podcast recently. "And that's what I see in Roxanne Perez."
Perez is a product of Booker T's Reality of Wrestling School as its youngest Diamonds Champion ever. She'll defend her NXT Women's Championship against Jaida Parker at NXT No Mercy inside Ball Arena in Denver on Sunday.
Booker believes Perez's soaring trajectory is just taking off.
"Is Roxanne Perez ready for the main roster right now? Yes, she is," Booker said. "Would I like to see her spend a little bit more time in NXT? Of course. But it's one of those things, man. You can't wait too long to pull the trigger. You can miss the boat. One thing about Roxanne Perez, I've watched her growth in NXT but I've watched her growth before that of course at Reality of Wrestling.
"She's been doing this since she was 16-years-old. I challenge anyone to tell me when they saw a bad match of Roxanne Perez's. They haven't seen any bad matches from Roxanne Perez. I've watched her growth on the mic as well."
"The Prodigy" did make a surprise appearance on the RAW after WrestleMania this past April.
