Bryan Danielson puts his career on the line later this month when he challenges Swerve Strickland in the main event of AEW's All In at Wembley Stadium.
The 43-year-old has vowed to end his in-ring career if he loses to the AEW Champion, closing the curtain on one of the most talented wrestlers of his generation.
Danielson has been with AEW since leaving WWE in 2021, and during an interview with Gorilla Position, revealed why he prefers the company's style of wrestling above the established name of WWE.
“I think I’m one of these people who prefer the style in AEW," Danielson said.
"That’s more wrestling focused. As opposed to the drama focused or whatever it is, but I like the idea there's an alternative.
"I really wanted to participate in this thing that makes wrestling industry better for everybody involved. And I think the fact that AEW exists is much better for all of us.”
The former WWE champion was also asked his thoughts on a possible return to WWE at some point down the road, and didn't completely rule out the possibility.
He added: “I would never say never, but it would have to be in a situation where I felt going back would benefit the industry. For example, if in 10 years something drastically changed with their creative process and AEW had completely taken over, making it a one-sided business, then I might consider it.
"But I love where I am now. I’m also not under contract, so realistically, I just want to be free. As for a Hall of Fame ring or other accolades, I have no interest in those. None whatsoever.”
