CM Punk is linked with a dramatic return to WWE.
Punk left WWE in 2014 and given his popularity with wrestling fans, speculation never really went away that he could one day come back to the franchise.
In 2021 he signed for AEW, but his contract was terminated at the start of September this year.
Becoming a free agent again meant that rumours intensified that the stars were aligning for him to get back with the company where he made his name.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that talks have occurred about potential comeback.
Dave Meltzer wrote: “Regarding C.M. Punk, there is obviously tons of talk regarding him returning.
“There have been rumors that it’s happening, but those in WWE have only said that no deal is completed and those close to Punk have told us that it is his intention to return and the two sides are in talks.”
It seems that Survivor Series, set to take place in Chicago, could be the event where he makes his return.
What form any contract would take is not clear, but with the event set for November 2023, we probably won’t have long to wait and find out.
