Sting has announced that his final match will take place at AEW Revolution as he closes the door on an incredible career that goes back over 30 years.
Sting arrived in AEW at ‘Winter is Coming’ in 2020 and the globally respected veteran has played his part in numerous memorable angles.
With the curtain set to come down on his illustrious run, who will sting share the ring with for his last outing?
Here, DAZN looks at five names who Sting could face at AEW Revolution in 2024.
Darby Allin
Sting’s protege who has been at his side since his first day in the company, could Darby Allin be the man who sends his mentor into retirement?
Student vs. Teacher storylines have long been a staple of professional wrestling, but does either man want to go at it after forging such a solid relationship?
MJF
The current AEW world champion will undoubtedly back himself to still be holding the gold at Revolution, but could he be the target for Sting to leave the business on the biggest high?
Sting has competed at championship level his entire career but that hasn’t occurred in AEW so far. Could he challenge MJF and leave AEW knowing he was the best in the company before relinquishing the title for the next generation?
Ric Flair
Sting’s final match comes almost two years after Ric Flair, his biggest rival, walked away from professional wrestling but could the ‘Nature Boy’ be tempted back into the ring to close the book on one of wrestling’s best storylines.
It was Flair who helped elevate Sting when he was first starting out in the business and the pair have been linked forever because of it. Flair may be happy in retirement, but could the lure of one more big night be too much for him to resist?
Andrade
If Flair does intend to stick to his retirement, could he send his son in law to do battle for him in the shape of Andrade El Idolo?
The Mexican star partnered Flair in his final match last year so that proves he’s willing to help out his family member. A win for Andrade could also serve as a springboard to push his own AEW career too.
Goldberg
Could Sting’s final match be a nod to his WCW days with Goldberg getting the opportunity to send his old rival into retirement?
The pair clashed when both leading names in Atlanta, and with Tony Khan, AEW’s leader, previously stating he’s a huge admirer of Goldberg, could this be the chance to introduce the main event level star?
