AEW Forbidden Door 2024 touted a total of nine matches on its pay-per-view main card Sunday night in Long Island, New York.
While Swerve Strickland defeated Will Ospreay in thrilling fashion to retain his AEW World Championship , there were titles that changed hands.
So, how many titles changed hands altogether?
Well, of the five world championship matches as part of the event, three titles went to new owners.
Perhaps the biggest shocker came as a result of Tetsuya Naito defeating Jon Moxley to become the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
The moment came when Naito managed to uncork a vicious Destino to get the pinfall after it had looked like Moxley was a man possessed to fighting toward another title defense.
In a match dubbed "Title for Title," Mercedes Mone caught Stephanie Vaquer with a Mone Maker before trapping her and wrenching back with a crossface for the submission victory. The win had Mone adding the NJPW Strong Women's Championship to her own TBS Championship. Mone was later confronted by a returning Dr. Britt Baker.
Finally, "The Scapegoat" Jack Perry outlasted El Phantasmo, Lio Rush, Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe and Dante Martin in a Ladder Match en route to claiming the vacant TNT Championship.
