The waning moments of WrestleMania XL in April included the superstar-studded appearances of John Cena, The Rock and The Undertaker before Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to finish his story by becoming the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
While the ending was one of the wildest and most memorable to ever conclude a WrestleMania, many members of the WWE Universe expected Stone Cold Steve Austin to play a part.
While Austin says an appearance at WrestleMania XL was "close" to happening, the WWE Hall of Famer believes he can make sure he's part of WrestleMania XLI in Las Vegas next year.
"It was close and they certainly reached out to me," Austin began explaining on the "Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez" podcast recently. "We had conversations but my wife and I had some things going on that I didn't need to go to Philly at that time.
"But I have said, I missed that Mania and God dang, Philly was a good town for me back in the day and I appreciate those fans," he continued. "We couldn't make it down on that one but WrestleMania [in 2025] is in Vegas and I was doing an interview a while back and I said 'hey man, that's 400 miles [away]. That's like right here where we're sitting."
He added: "It'll be in Vegas and I hope to be there. If [Cody Rhodes] needs another hand, I'll be there."
In WrestleMania 38 in April 2022, Austin defeated Kevin Owens in a savage No Holds Barred match.
