IMPACT Wrestling’s Mike Bailey wants to see Elevation X back on screen, athough he admitted the gambit is not without its risks.
As Cultaholic explains, there have only been two Elevation X matches in the history of TNA/IMPACT, both at Destination X - first in 2007 and then the following year.
Rhino won them both, the first win coming against AJ Styles and the second up against James Storm.
The Elevation X format sees an attempt to knock your rival off an X-shaped platform which is suspended above the ring, leaving your opponent to fall onto the mat.
He explained: "Elevation X really is my favourite. AJ Styles vs. Rhino in Elevation X really is one of my favourite things of all time. One, because it's completely ridiculous. It's a terrible idea. I watched it last year when I was doing a Twitch stream to get ready for Ultimate X and I watched all the Ultimate X matches I could find, and I also watched Elevation X.”
He noted his concerns, adding: “I had seen it, but as I'm re-watching it, I'm like, 'this is completely ridiculous'. I then spoke to Rhino about it, and he told me, above and beyond what you see on TV, the structure was shaky and really felt unstable, and it looks terrifying. Somehow, it's worse. I would love to be part of it because I think it's an incredibly over-the-top, interesting concept.”
Bailey is set to appear at Slammiversary on July 15.
