One of the most anticipated matches on the WWE SummerSlam 2024 main card doesn't involve a world championship.
It's the long-awaited Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk bout, which is already heated considering the vitriol both men have for each other. Then, toss in special guest referee Seth "Freakin" Rollins and the propensity for an explosion is imminent.
But considering his own dislike for both McIntyre and Punk, will Rollins be able to ref the match straight down the line and as fairly as possible?
"I don't like Drew, I don't like Punk, Punk doesn't like Drew, he doesn't like me ... yeah, you're right, there's a lot of tension between the three of us," Rollins began explaining on ESPN SportsCenter on Tuesday. "It's going down Saturday, Cleveland, SummerSlam."
He added: "I'm gonna call it right down the middle. I'm gonna let these two slug it out. May the best man win."
When pushed by interviewer Stephen Nelson about whether he can truly be objective, Rollins offered: "I can because I hate them both equally. Absolutely, 100 percent.
"I want them both to suffer the exact same amount so I'm gonna do my best to work that out. It's going to be up to them about who's gonna pin who, who's gonna make who tap out. But we'll get to all that.
"But I'm gonna be there to make sure they beat the crap out of each other and the people in Cleveland are going to love it."
Rollins also tacked on that he hopes he's not a factor in the matchup, reminding fans that he was pushed into this position because Punk and McIntyre couldn't control themselves and decimated their way through WWE's referee roster with all officials refusing to be the third man.
