Tony Khan talks how valuable MJF is to AEW and his current relationship with the starDAZN

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is the biggest heel in All Elite Wrestling and perhaps the best heel in all of professional wrestling.

His promos are reminiscent of Roddy Piper, and his in-ring wrestling has improved tremendously since the start of AEW in 2019. He's had memorable feuds with current AEW Heavyweight champion Jon Moxley and CM Punk.

Currently, MJF is in possession of the casino chip won at All Out, which guarantees him an opportunity to face whoever the AEW champion is when he decides to cash it in. He's on the verge of breaking out and becoming the face of the three-year-old company.

"He's one of the best wrestlers on the planet," AEW Owner and CEO Tony Khan told DAZN. "He's got everything it takes to be a great wrestling star. His ideas are very strong, his wrestling is very strong, and his personality is incredibly strong. He puts it all together into as complete of a package as anybody in the wrestling business today. He does it all at such a young age. I think MJF is very important to the future of AEW and into the future of pro wrestling. He's one of the most important people in AEW."

Things haven't always been rosy between MJF and Khan. Before his match against Wardlow at May's Double or Nothing, Friedman had expressed his displeasure with his pay, and it was touch and go on whether he'd compete at the event. Ultimately, he showed and put over Wardlow strong in the match. On the following edition of AEW Dynamite on June 1, Freidman cut a scathing promo on Khan and AEW and wasn't seen until All Out.

Now, the 26-year-old is back and hasn't missed a beat. When asked about the status of his relationship with one of his marquee stars, Khan was positive about it and heaped praise on Friedman and what he brings to the table.

"I think it's a professional relationship," Khan said. "I think it's been tremendous for the wrestling fans to have him back on the show. To have him here in AEW, I think is very big for the fans, and it's good for the company, and that's the most important thing. I respect his talent a lot. I think it’s gotten him a long way and his gifts will continue to go a long way."
