“I’m back.”
Mike Tyson ended his workout video Monday by saying that two-word statement, intensifying rumors of his return to the ring.
This comes after Tyson expressed his interest in boxing exhibition fights for charity.
“I’ve been working out, I’ve been trying to get in the ring, I think I’m going to box some exhibitions and get in shape,” Tyson said in an Instagram Live chat with rapper T.I. “I want to go to the gym and get in shape to be able to box three- or four-round exhibitions for some charities and stuff.”
Evander Holyfield could be a potential opponent for Tyson after the four-time heavyweight champion announced his return to boxing ring to raise money for his charity, Unite 4 Our Fight.
“I’ve already done what I wanted to do in my career and have been the best that I could be. If it wasn’t for charity, I wouldn’t fight Tyson,” Holyfield said in an interview with Boxing Scene. “I don’t look at is as being a winner in this fight. This is a charity even helping our foundations. The thing is knowing what you’re doing it for.”
Holyfield and Tyson always will be linked with their fights in the 1990s. In 1996, Holyfield defeated Tyson by 11th-round TKO. One year later, Holyfield won the rematch by disqualification after Tyson bit off a part of his ear.
While Holyfield is leaving the door open for Tyson to fight him, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship extended a $20 million offer to Tyson to compete in a bare-knuckle fight, according to Heavy.com. His interest in accepting that offer is unknown.
Earlier this month, Tyson released another training video that went viral, with his trainer saying he had the speed and power of a 21-year-old.
