Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looks to prolong his final season as a Pittsburgh Steeler when the team travels to Arrowhead Stadium to face the two-time Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. 

The Chiefs just missed out on the AFC's number one seed which was claimed by the Tennessee Titans, while the Steelers had to overcome division rival the Baltimore on the final week of the regular season to secure a place in the playoffs. 

These two teams did meet on Boxing Day in what was a comprehensive 36-10 win for the Chiefs who also clinched the AFC West title with the victory. Despite missing offensive stars Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, it was a one-sided affair with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 258 yards and three touchdowns.

The Chiefs maybe a clear favourite for this matchup, but don't count out a Steelers team which has wrecking machine T.J. Watt amongst its defensive ranks and a QB Roethlisberger who will be looking to prove the doubters wrong once again.

Francis Ngannou can envision a fight with Tyson Fury in 2023. The UFC heavyweight champion currently has a long list of contenders waiting to challenge him in the octagon but that hasn’t prevented the French star from considering a contest with Fury in the next two years. 

Fury, one of boxing's most in demand fighters, is currently plotting a path towards undisputed glory in boxing’s heavyweight division and he’ll be an ardent spectator when Anthony Joshua tackles Oleksandr Usyk later this year. The charismatic Brit has flirted with professional wrestling before and Ngannou believes a fight against an MMA star could happen for Fury. 

"I don't know exactly when Tyson and I will fight, but I think maybe some time in 2023,” said Ngannou when speaking to <a href="https://news.stake.com/stakes-exclusive-interview-with-francis-ngannou/">Stake</a>.

“I am still under contract with UFC so I don't know right now the state of my situation or how it will play out, but I will say it will probably happen at some point. It is definitely something I want to do, but we don't have control over it right now. 

"I know it will be very tough when we fight. Not only am I coming from a distant sport, but I am testing myself against one of the best, if not the best, boxer ever. Obviously, I am confident, but it will be something totally different and new for me. Fury has obviously proven he can last a very long time in a fight - but I am sure I will throw some bombs at him that he will not have experienced before."

Robert Helenius possesses a strong belief that he would be the first man to defeat Tyson Fury. The Finnish heavyweight is enjoying a decent run of form that saw him inflict two consecutive defeats on Poland’s bright hope Adam Kownacki. 

Perhaps best remembered for defeats against Dillian Whyte and Gerald Washington, Helenius has gone some way to restoring his reputation and he could be next in oine to face Fury. Discussions are still taking place regarding the WBC champion’s next move with Whyte also in the frame, but Helenius welcomes the threat of Fury and is confident of causing an upset.

Former unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is slowly ramping up preparations for his rematch with WBA, WBO and IBF title holder Oleksandr Usyk, but an announcement is yet to be made when about Joshua's training team.

Following a comprehensive points loss to Usyk last September, Joshua and his team, which includes head trainer Robert McCracken, came under intense scrutiny. As a result, Joshua was spotted in numerous gyms across the US in search of a change in approach for a second fight with the Ukrainian.

Speaking on the latest episode of <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:bih6egy92h1a1wapgu4wrwgs4">The DAZN Boxing Show</a>, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that the London 2012 gold medallist is excited for camp and an announcement on his training team is not too far away. 

"AJ will do that himself in due course when camp starts, there's been training in the US, there's been training in the UK. He's, he's got a good idea in his mind now what his team will look like for that training camp," Hearn said when asked about when fans could expect an announcement. 

"I think he's buoyant. He's excited. He feels like he's done the research. He's done the work.

"In the next three or four weeks, it'll be time to enter camp and I'm sure we'll make an announcement about who's on the team.

"It's a camp which is going to be very important for his career and one he's very excited about."

Junior Makabu is the “perfect fight” for Canelo Alvarez at crusierweight. That’s the opinion of David Haye, a former world champion at the weight Canelo is considering moving to in 2022. At the WBC convention last year, the Mexican icon posed for multiple photos with Makabu and made it clear that he intended to challenge the Congolese puncher for his world title. 

A fighter very much in demand, Canelo, boxing’s biggest draw, has several options this year due to his ability to compete anywhere between middleweight and 200lbs. As well as Makabu, Canelo has also been linked to fights with Jermall Charlo, David Benavidez and several light-heavyweights. Haye believes the Makabu test is one he should pursue. 

“I think it’s a great fight; I think it’s a perfect fight if Canelo is going to dip his toe into the cruiserweight division,” said David Haye when speaking to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shQAVfyzOTI">Fight Hub</a>. 

“The WBC title, Makabu holds that belt, and of all the cruiserweights, I’d recommend Makabu as the one. 

“He’s a guy that is not as naturally big as the other cruiserweights. He’s not a Lawrence Okolie who could comfortably fight at heavyweight. So, it’s the perfect storm having Makabu as the WBC champion.  It makes for a fight that is quite easy to make and a fight that the fans would be very intrigued and excited about.”

Undisputed women’s lightweight champion Katie Taylor and seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano are on the brink of agreeing terms for a fight this April.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:bih6egy92h1a1wapgu4wrwgs4">The DAZN Boxing Show</a>, Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn revealed that contracts are being finalised and an announcement is imminent.

“The contracts are getting finalised at the moment. We're on the brink now,” Hearn said.

“That's the biggest fight in the history of female boxing. And it's going to be a massive fight for boxing in 2022.”

Hearn also had praise for the work Jake Paul has done for Serrano when it comes to increasing her profile. The unified women's world featherweight champion has a promotional deal with the internet star’s Most Valuable Promotions.

“Jake Paul has done a brilliant job for her [Amanda Serrano]. He's massively increased Amanda Serrano's value,” Hearn stated.

“She deserves this, the price that was offered three years ago, that's not the price anymore. As they say, yesterday's price is not today and Jake Paul's a massive reason for that.

“Female boxing doesn't get any bigger than this fight. I mean, in a way I want to stop saying ‘this is the biggest fight in female boxing.’ This is one of the biggest fights in boxing.”

Jaime Munguia's motivation is at an all-time high ahead of his next fight against D'Mitrius Ballard on February 19th which is set to take place in Munguia's native Tijuana, Mexico live on <a href="https://www.dazn.com/home">DAZN</a> (except in Mexico). 
 
"I am very happy to return to Tijuana, the city that saw me grow up and has supported me throughout my career," the 25-year-old fighter said in a conference call with reporters. 

"I have a great responsibility to my hometown after fighting away from home for a long time. I'm coming back a 154-pound world champion, I've become a figure in the boxing world, it's a big responsibility and I know it. I prepare every day to make my hometown proud."

However, this fight against Ballard is just a preamble to what Munguia and his promotional team are looking for in 2022. The Mexican knockout artist is looking to stay as active as possible and be ready in case a world championship opportunity arises. 
 
"Since we started working with him, we have seen a great development in Jaime, not only as a fighter, but also as a person and I am sure he will be a better fighter at 160 pounds than he was at 154 (where he made five defences)," said his promoter Fernando Beltran. 
 
With Gennady Golovkin's unification with Japan's Ryota Murata in limbo after the fight was cancelled at the end of the year due to travel restrictions, WBC belt holder Jermall Charlo awaiting an opponent and WBO champion Demetrius Andrade pondering a move up a division, Jaime said he would be willing to take on anyone, although his bias remains in favour of Kazakh champion Triple G. 
 
"They were the ones who first sought us out, but we were always interested in GGG and we're still interested (if they want to fight too). If it were to happen it would be a great fight, a shock fight and the fight would be well accepted by the fans. We are determined to fight him," he said. 
 
With his sights set on Ballard first, and with the promise of facing Dominican Carlos Adames - who is coming off an upset of Sergiy Derevyancheko - Munguia is set for an exciting 2022.

Hrgovic, highly ranked by the IBF, has been frustrated in recent weeks as fights with Luis Ortiz and Joseph Parker have failed to materialise. Yoka had no such problems accepting the contest. 

Amateur rivals at the highest level, Yoka took an Olympic gold medal back to France in 2016 and the Croatian was one of his victims along the way. Both fighters have adapted to the pro ranks in impressive fashion and the winner of their bout, which is yet to be officially confirmed, is likely to be made mandatory contender by the IBF.

Derek Chisora has seen everything in the crazy world of heavyweight boxing, but while the curtain is slowly falling on his career, the 38-year-old is backing Anthony Joshua to revive his.

After losing his WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk last September, Joshua has been bombareded with criticisms about his boxing ability.

The London 2012 Olympic gold medallist is now looking to avenge his loss to Usyk with a rematch rumoured for April and Chisora is backing his fellow countryman to become a three-time world heavyweight champion. 

"I think AJ wins that second time around," Chisora told <a href="https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1019935/">TalkSPORT</a> when asked about who would come out on top in Usyk vs. Joshua 2. 

“When I spoke to him I asked him if he watched the fight back, he said he only watched four rounds because he didn’t like the way he boxed.

“I asked him what he was going to do [in the rematch], he said: ‘You’ll see.'"

It's not just Usyk who Chisora thinks Joshua can beat, he also believes that his fellow countryman can beat the current WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. 

"Fury doesn’t have a power punch, but he’s got the knowledge of boxing. When you box Tyson Fury, if he steps backwards, you instantly step forward and you’re already in his range," Chisora said.

"If he steps forward and you go backwards you’re still in his range because of his reach. You can’t run away!"

When explaining why he thinks Joshua will beat Fury, Chisora said the following: "I’ll go with AJ. AJ’s power punch is unbelievable.

“If AJ fights Fury, he has to go on him straight away, blast him out. He can’t box him. If he boxes with him, he loses.

“If you give Fury time on the ball then you’re in trouble.”

Derek Chisora is ready to test himself against Deontay Wilder and believes he has what it takes to beat the heavy-handed American. There were wide concerns for Chisora following his one-sided loss to Joseph Parker in December, but the entertaining Londoner has ruled out retirement and is still targeting the most dangerous names in the heavyweight division. 

Wilder, coming off back-to-back stoppage losses against Tyson Fury, has not revealed his intentions moving forward but Chisora has made a point of being willing to face the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist. With both men looking to bounce back from tough setbacks, Chisora believes the fight makes sense and is confident of victory. 

“I think we’ve both come out of two losses, why not?” said Chisora to <a href="https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1019942/">Talksport</a> when asked about facing Wilder. 

“The thing is, I will be honest with you, I want to fight everybody. When I hang it up, I can say I fought everybody in my era and enjoyed it. I loved it, that’s what I want to do.” 

“I don’t want to duck and dive and suddenly at the end of my career saying, ‘I wish I’d fought this guy.’ No, I want to fight everybody right now. I want to go for it 100 per cent. Yes, I will beat him.”

Bob Arum has invited Dillian Whyte to make a fight with Tyson Fury. The Brixton fighter, highly ranked by the WBC, has been pursuing a grand opportunity in the heavyweight division ever since losing to Anthony Joshua at the backend of 2015. Defeating several solid contenders, Whyte finds himself next in line for Fury’s world title, but a deal is still not forthcoming. 

The WBC have ordered purse bids for the bout with the percentage currently set at 80/20 in Fury’s favour. This is a decision that is being contested by Whyte so it remains unclear when the fight can be finalised. Arum, Fury’s American promoter, has urged Whyte to listen to what he has to offer. 

"If he wants the fight and stops messing around, he can get a good payday and prove that he is of a world-class calibre by taking on Fury,” said Arum when speaking to <a href="https://www.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/12514381/dillian-whyte-urged-to-stop-messing-around-and-work-out-a-deal-for-tyson-fury-fight-by-promoter-bob-arum">Sky Sports</a>.

“We'd like to do that fight. It's a good fight for the UK.” 

"Whyte should sit down with myself and Frank Warren and work out a deal for a guarantee, and we'll get this show on the road. Anthony Joshua is at a crossroads in his boxing career.

After recording his second loss as a professional to Oleksandr Usyk last September, there are some doubts about the former WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight champion's boxing ability.

With a rematch supposedly in the works for April, it is simply a 'must win' for Joshua who is desperate to prove that he is still a top heavyweight contender.

This has led to Adam Catterall, one half of the Fight Disciples, believing that the Olympic gold medalist has the most to lose in 2022. 

"I just think Anthony Joshua’s got so much to lose this year. His rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, if indeed they make that fight, is absolutely massive for his future," Catterall stated on the latest instalment of <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:17q6um58dv3kr1kh8d61v6yz0b">JABS</a>. 

"He has to win that fight; a loss and he’s done in this division."

Nick Peet on the other hand disagreed with his partner's views. He stated that Joshua is still the biggest name in the heavyweight division and even if he does lose to Usyk for a second time, there are still some great fights to be made. 

"I don’t agree just because I still think he’s the biggest name in the heavyweight division. I think he still puts more bums on seats than anything else," Peet said.

"I think he’s being forced into the Usyk rematch; I personally wouldn’t go down that road.

"Even if he was to lose to Usyk, I still think there’s big fights with [Deontay] Wilder, big fights with Dillian Whyte, big fights with other heavyweights certainly coming through, maybe even Joe Joyce back in the UK.

"I’m not writing anybody off because of a loss or two, let’s be honest, the losses often define the greatest champions and how they bounce back."

Does Anthony Joshua have the most to lose in 2022?

One fight which boxing fans crave is the welterweight showdown between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr, however, boxing politics has stopped this clash between two of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters from happening.

WBO welterweight champion Crawford has seemed to have taken matters into his own hands by becoming a free agent in an attempt to force a fight with the IBF and WBC title holder.

However, in the eyes of Spence's promoters, PBC, Crawford is not a big enough draw for the 'big' fights.

DAZN Boxing analyst Tony Bellew disagrees. The former WBC cruiserweight champion believes Crawford is a big draw and doubts Spence's status as a PPV star.

"Terence Crawford is a draw. Do you know why he’s a draw because he beats everybody, and he beats them well," Bellew said on <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-GB/home/ArticleId:17q6um58dv3kr1kh8d61v6yz0b">The DAZN Boxing Show</a>. 

"Now Errol Spence is also a draw make no mistake about it. If Errol Spence is this big box office draw, why did he have to get on a plane to come to Sheffield to challenge Kell Brook.

"Huge stars don’t go abroad to fight someone of their own choice.

"Do you see Canelo travel? We don’t see huge mega PPV stars travel."

The 39-year-old also had an idea as to how boxing's various authorities could get Crawford and Spence finally in a ring together.

"No one wants to face either of them, no one can beat either of them, they are at a point now in their careers where they need each other," Bellew explained.

"Tim Smith needs a reality check.

"Errol Spence has nowhere to go, Terence Crawford has nowhere to go.

"All the sanctioning bodies need to call Terence Crawford as Errol Spence’s mandatory and we’re going to purse bids.

"When we go to purse bids, believe you and me, you’ll see how big that fight is because that’s a $50/$60m fight. No questions asked."

The DAZN Boxing Show reacted to comments made by the PBC's Tim Smith about the potential welterweight super fight, and former world champion Tony Bellew has proposed a solution to the stand-off.

Two teams with identical records kick off this year's NFL Wild Card round as the Las Vegas Raiders travel to Ohio to face the Cincinnati Bengals.

Both teams finished with 10-7 records, although the Raiders are the ones with momentum as they head into Saturday's matchup on the heels of a four-game winning streak. The most recent of those victories was <a href="https://www.dazn.com/en-CA/news/american-football/raiders-vs-chargers-live-updates-results-highlights/mnn3cq01tkjl1p8054mg5i9cn">last Sunday's dramatic 35-32 overtime win over the Los Angeles Chargers</a>, the result of which saw Vegas advance to the postseason while LA was left wondering "what if?"

Now, the Raiders look to keep riding that emotional high as they head to Cincinnati for a showdown with the AFC North champion Bengals. 

The teams hooked up for a regular-season battle less than two months ago, with the Bengals claiming a comprehensive 32-13 victory over the Raiders in Nevada on Nov. 21. Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon was dominant in that game, racking up 123 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Mixon missed out on Week 18 after testing positive for COVID-19, and the Bengals will be hoping that the 25-year-old won't be feeling any ill effects <a href="https://www.cincyjungle.com/2022/1/10/22876660/bengals-roster-news-joe-mixon-vonn-bell-trey-hendrickson-raiders-covid-19">after being reactivated to the roster</a> earlier this week.

Different week, almost the same result.

Tottenham fell 1-0 at home to Chelsea on Wednesday night in the second leg of the 2021-22 Carabao Cup semifinals, nearly mirroring the team's 2-0 first-leg loss at Stamford Bridge last week. Regardless, the Blues are on their way to Wembley Stadium following their 3-0 aggregate victory, and they are every bit as deserving as the score line suggests.

On Wednesday, Spurs were beaten by an efficient Chelsea side that already had one eye on the final. Starting with a two-goal advantage, Thomas Tuchel's men wasted little time putting the aggregate out of reach, with defender Antonio Rudiger scoring in the 18th minute.

Rudiger aggressively attacked a Mason Mount corner kick, meeting the ball with the back of his head at the top of the six-yard box and knocking it past a tentative Pierluigi Gollini in the Tottenham net.

Chelsea continued to attack after the goal, but it was Tottenham that had the next biggest moment of the first half as Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was taken down by Rudiger on a rare Spurs foray into the visitors' end. Initially judged a penalty kick by referee Andre Marriner, the video assistant referee determined that Rudiger's challenge was initiated outside the penalty area, and the call was revised to a free kick that was promptly squandered by Tottenham's Giovani Lo Celso.

Spurs would again find themselves on the wrong end of a VAR decision early in the second half, as Lucas Moura collided with Kepa Arrizabalaga while chasing down a through ball into the 18-yard box. Marriner again pointed to the spot, and again the call from the video truck went against Tottenham as the Chelsea 'keeper was shown to have clearly beaten Moura to the ball before the players collided.

Tottenham eventually did find the back of the net in the 62nd minute, with Harry Kane finishing an opportunistic passage of play by the home side. Unfortunately for Kane and Spurs, the striker was offside was while receiving the ball, nullifying the actions that followed.

Despite the flurry of talking points, Tottenham didn't generate much else in Wednesday's match. Chelsea finished with an overwhelming advantage in possession and passes as Tuchel's men proved superior to their London neighbours once again.

Vargas (29-3-2, 11 KOs) was looking to rebound from his February 2020 loss to Mikey Garcia. Before then, the 32-year-old battled Adrien Broner and Thomas Dulorme to draws in 2018. Vargas went to a sixth-round TKO of Humberto Soto in April 2019. Now, he'll have to wait longer for his return to action.  
 
Meanwhile, Smith (30-3-1, 17 KOs), a former WBO junior middleweight champion, was set to return to compete in the United States since a decision loss to Jaime Munguia in July 2018. Unfortunate news to begin 2022 for the former world champion.

Things were looking up for Joe Smith Jr. after capturing the WBO light heavyweight title last April. 
 
Unification bouts against unified titlist Artur Beterbiev and WBA (super) titleholder Dmitry Bivol were on the horizon for Smith, but those dreams were wrecked Smith as he contracted COVID-19 in September. Then he was scheduled to face Callum Johnson on Saturday. Those plans got scrapped at the end of last week as Johnson tested positive for COVID. 
 
Smith wanted to stay on the card and was insistent on making his first title defense. His team searched far and wide. Finally, Steve Geffrard accepted the challenge and the fight is on at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.  
 
Ahead of his 2022 debut, Smith talks in his own words to DAZN News about his 2021, possibly being part of the Canelo Alvarez sweepstakes, and the status of the light heavyweight division.

<h2>Did it matter who the opponent was after Johnson pulled out?</h2>

"I just wanted somebody in there that was comfortable but I didn't really care who it was. I just wanted to fight. But at the same time, I didn't want to fight another top guy and not be prepared enough for it. They tried to get me everybody, but nobody wanted to take the fight on short notice. They wanted more money than I was getting paid. So that was their way of saying no.

"They went through a lot of guys. They called up a lot of people. But they were able to find this guy who's taking the fight. He may not have the best professional resume right now but he's a well-experienced fighter. He's been in the ring with everybody and he has a great amateur background." 

<h2>Frustration in the long layoff and not building on his momentum</h2>

"It was very frustrating and hard. Once, I got COVID the first time I realized that it's not a joke (and) that you can get it just being around anybody. No one needs to show symptoms, anything and you could just pick it up. I made the choice and sacrifice for this to make this opportunity happen this time. I didn't go near anybody. I skipped the holidays. It was just me and my wife. My wife took off for work and I went from home to the gym. That's it. 

"When I went to the gym, nobody was there. It was just me. Shut down the whole gym. I went early when nobody was there. Sparring partners, we COVID tested them and made sure everything was good before we even got in the room with them." 

<h2>If he's still bothered with loss to Bivol</h2>

"I got past it. He's a great fighter. In my opinion, I think he's the best light heavyweight right now other than me (laughs). I'll be looking forward to getting a fight with him in the future as long as I can do what I need to do this weekend and get past this guy."

<h2>Being in the Canelo sweepstakes for possible fight in May</h2>

"I hope I'm in there. I'm hoping I'm one of the names mentioned because I believe I deserve a shot like that. I believe I deserve a payday. I've had a lot of tough fights. He’s the pound-for pound-king and I want to fight the best. That's it. That’s the motivation for me to fight the best. It makes me better."

<h2>The fight that's most likely next between Canelo, Bivol and Beterbiev?</h2>

"I honestly don't know. I'll take any of the fights. I'm looking to get Beterbiev or Canelo next. Those are the two I want next. If the Canelo fight is there and if the Beterbiev fight pops up after that one, I would take that. That would be the order I would choose. But if it's not Canelo, it's Beterbiev. I want him next if I don't face Canelo. I have to fight for more belts and then unify them all again."   

<h2>Is 2022 the goal to become the undisputed champion at 175 pounds?</h2>

"Yes, I would like to. If I fought Beterbiev first and beat him then I would choose to fight Bivol after that."

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury belittled Anthony Joshua for losing to Oleksandr Usyk and claimed he will take the Ukrainian’s three belts.

Back in September 2021, Usyk surprised many in the world of boxing by comfortably beating Joshua for the IBF, WBA and WBO championships.

Fury followed that up the next month by defeating Deontay Wilder for the second time in three fights, making it the first successful defence of any world title he has held over a stop-start but impressive career.

Usyk must face Joshua in a rematch, expected to take place around April, while Fury is due to face Dillian Whyte in a WBC-ordered mandatory defence.

With those fights out of the way, Fury would look on course to meet Usyk at some point this year to crown one of the duo as undisputed heavyweight champion.

Speaking on <a href="https://twitter.com/Tyson_Fury/status/1480959931763281926" target="_blank">Twitter</a>, Fury insulted Joshua for losing the belts.

“You know what I can't believe? That AJ has gone and given Ukraine all the heavyweight belts back after all my hard work in stealing them,” referencing his victory over Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015.

"You big useless dosser. You let a little man come up from middleweight and set about you and take all your belts.

"Now it is going to take a real British Lancaster Bomber like me to go and bring the belts back to Britain!"

Fury then included Usyk in the invective, before saying he would secure a win against the current three-belt champion.

"You are useless dossers," he said. "Honestly bring them to me. I am the 'Gypsy King'. Bring them to me and I will put them in their place."
