The former world champion was not impressed by one particular outing in the ring.

George Groves has claimed that Tyson Fury's split decision win over Francis Ngannou is possibly 'the worst performance' in boxing history.

The WBC world heavyweight champion faced the former UFC star back in October and it is a fight which Fury would want to forget.

Fury was expected to make easy work of Ngannou, but the Cameroonian frustrated the WBC world heavyweight title holder and even managed to knock down Fury in the third round.

This coupled with the fight being Ngannou's professional boxing debut resulted in Fury receiving plenty of criticism including former world champion Groves.

"Was Fury’s performance against Ngannou the worst performance in history?" Groves said on The George Groves Boxing Club podcast.

"For a lineal world champion who is apparently the best in the division, who should have lost that night but he got the decision against a no-bout cage fighter, is that the worst performance in history?”

Fury's poor performance was further highlighted this past weekend when Anthony Joshua managed to knockout Ngannou in the second round of their contest in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
